Like Galactus, Galactiac came to this world for his own destructive purpose, and he wields a cosmic powersource in order to do so, which is channeled through his ship. However, in this issue, the world is greeted with the unexpected coming of this universe’s version of Galactus (who was merged with Brainiac) known as Galactiac. During the fateful space mission where the Fantastic Four were blasted with cosmic rays, the radiation shields actually held, meaning Ben, Reed, Sue, and Johnny were safe from the mutating effects. However, there are instances when the Thing comes out on top, like in Immortal Hulk #41, but that was only because the Hulk had been greatly weakened–something that is a trend with practically all the Thing’s victories over the Hulk. One of the more striking examples was shown in Secret Empire #6, where the Hulk takes down the Thing with a single punch. In fact, most of the fights between the Hulk and the Thing reflect this, as the Hulk usually beats the Thing with ease. The Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets, and there is no known power ceiling, whereas the Thing is always as strong as he’ll ever be (barring any outside influences). While, sure, the Thing is incredibly strong, even when compared to most other superheroes, the Hulk is simply unparalleled. Just because they’ve fought a great number of times, doesn’t mean the Thing and the Hulk are evenly matched. It seems it caught the most attention back in 2018, when Gordon-Levitt injured himself on a bike towards the end of filming. The Thing and the Hulk have shared blows on more than one occasion, but within the pages of Marvel and DC’s ultimate crossover, the Thing is given a power-up that actually makes him a match for the Hulk.
